On Father's day, Barrack Obama gave a speech which spoke about fatherlessness in the Black community. He called for Black men who are neglecting their responsibilities, to step up and be accountable to their families. After reading his speech, I mostly agree with Mr. Obama's stance. Yet, it would be nice if members in our community started mentioning that it takes two to have a healthy relationship. Many Black men and women need to work on respecting each other better.

Truth went to a family celebration last weekend that was hosted by an older IR couple. It was a nice party and everyone seemed to enjoy each other's company. The celebration brought both sides of IR couples family together under one roof, which put on display the way different cultures do the same thing differently. In the African American coummnity, 46% of the households are female headed. There are many significant issues that affect the African American community, but the Fatherlessness in homes seems to be the most painful of the bunch.
