Emmanuel of SeeingGrowth.com Used But Not Abused

Things are meant to be used, taken care of and put back in its place. This same concept should apply to people and relationships. Healthy relationships are built within a cycle of give and take, not take, take, take some more and then walk away without giving of our self or throwing the person or relationship to the side feeling taken advantage of until it is time to be abused again. People like to be needed but not taken advantage of and they react when they feel misused. I think we all become… Continue

O. H. Uppighofer hoodia

The Hoodia cactus is found deep within the Kalahari Deserts of South Africa. At first glance, the Hoodia cactus does not appear to be anything particularly special, just some ugly little plant in the middle of the barren plains. This is probably how the Hoodia cactus was missed for so long, but in this weird little member of the aloe family may lay the secret to easy weight loss. Hoodia is a natural appet

Truth Absolutely wrong about relationships.

On Father's day, Barrack Obama gave a speech which spoke about fatherlessness in the Black community. He called for Black men who are neglecting their responsibilities, to step up and be accountable to their families. After reading his speech, I mostly agree with Mr. Obama's stance. Yet, it would be nice if members in our community started mentioning that it takes two to have a healthy relationship. Many Black men and women need to work on respecting each other better. The most annoying aspect,… Continue

Truth Prevention or Treatment? Ask Carl Eller

"Plan for what is difficult while it is easy, do what is great while it is small. The most difficult things in the world must be done while they are still easy, the greatest things in the world must be done while they are still small. For this sages never do what is great, and this is why they can achieve that greatness." The Tao - te ching, or The Way and its Power This quote comes from the aforementioned book above and is also mentioned in Sun Tzu's The Art of War. Both books are steeped in… Continue

Truth They may look different but they are the same, part two.

Truth went to a family celebration last weekend that was hosted by an older IR couple. It was a nice party and everyone seemed to enjoy each other's company. The celebration brought both sides of IR couples family together under one roof, which put on display the way different cultures do the same thing differently. It also showed the judgement involved when the "other" culture does things differently than the dominant one. For the majority of the time during the celebration, things were prett… Continue

Sistah C In Honor of the Mothers...

Just remembering Mama's Day is Everyday... and this poem... Peace, Sistah C Imagine a Woman Imagine a woman who believes it is right and good she is a woman. A woman who honors her experience and tells her stories. Who refuses to carry the sins of others within her body and life. Imagine a woman who trusts and respects herself. A woman who listens to her needs and desires. WhContinue

Truth "The White doll is prettier."

A man is speaking to a young female that is like a little sister to him. The conversation starts on a pleasant note, then switches to something serious. The young girl tells her older mentor, she is upset about having her hair cut. She states that she has been trying to grow her hair for a few years and did not want the stylist to cut her hair. The man validates her feelings, but reminds her that the previous stylist she had, did a bad job on her hair. This is something the man truly knows not… Continue

Truth Black fathers are necessary, especially for their son's sake.

In the African American coummnity, 46% of the households are female headed. There are many significant issues that affect the African American community, but the Fatherlessness in homes seems to be the most painful of the bunch. The absence of the father has seem to put the Black family in "trouble", which means the community itself is in peril. In the words of Ashanti, "the ruin of a nation begins in the homes of its people." The absence of the father has hurt the whole community, but its mos… Continue

SassyScribe Addicted To Bling

After much thought about the comments that Don Imus uttered, I would be totally remiss in not discussing the part that WE (society, but in particular blacks)play in this. Is the black community so blinded that they can't see what is going on? When did Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton (two men that I don't personally trust) become the voice of the Black Community? They are protesting that a man be removed from his job, yet when it comes to the "flossing" and "blinging" of the rap industry and thei… Continue

Truth The problem with Hip - Hop, it eats its own young.

I used to be a die hard Hip - Hop fan in my younger days. Now, I relate to rock lyrics more than Hip - Hop ones. If you had told me twenty years ago, that one day Truth would despise Hip - Hop, there would have been no way I would have believed you. Today though, this is the reality of my music preference. I really don't hate Hip-Hop, but I do have a serious disdain for what radio stations and record companies now pass off as hip — hop music. There has been a severe decline in artistic express… Continue

Truth Inside or Outside the box?

if you had to describe what characteristics make a man, what would you say? What I mean is, what our culture would say is the typical man. You would probably say tough, strong, protector, money maker, drinker, fighter and a host of others. How would you describe a man who does not fit those characteristics? We all have met men in our lives who seem to march to beat of their own drummer. You would probably say they are sensitive, artistic and maybe even gay. Now here comes the interesting part,… Continue

G. Cook I'm running for a Board seat

Hey Everyone I've got some great news. I am going to be running for a seat on the Board of Education for my town of Hillside NJ. For some reason known only to God I was at a NJ Nets game last night when I got the phone call asking me if I was interested in running for the Board. Oh wait a minute. Now I remember why I was at the Nets Game. The tickets were free. But I gotta talk to Jay Z about the $7.50 beers.... Sorry about that. Anyway I said yes after making sure that I was truly wanted and… Continue
